In Our Day follows two people in Seoul whose lives briefly intersect through the visitors they receive. A woman in her forties, recently back in South Korea, is staying with a friend who keeps a cat, and a young aspiring artist comes to her with questions about work and life. Elsewhere, an aging poet in poor health lives alone after his own cat died, and a different young visitor arrives to ask him about his career and about life more broadly. The film sets these two conversations alongside each other.
Hong Sang-soo directed and wrote the film, which was produced through Jeonwonsa Film with Kim Min-hee and Hong as producers. It is the ninth of the fifteen films he has directed in chronological order, arriving between The Novelist's Film and In Water. The cast includes Ki Joo-bong, Kim Min-hee, Song Sun-mi, Park Mi-so, Ha Seong-guk and Kim Seung-yun. Running 84 minutes, it is a Korean drama released in July 2023.
Audience response has been moderate: on IMDb it holds 6.5 out of 10 from around 595 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.9 from a much smaller number of ratings. A film critics' rating of 7.3 from 32 reviews places it somewhat above the audience scores, suggesting that reviewers responded to it more warmly than general viewers did.
