Sentimental Value

Two sisters, Nora and Agnes, are reunited with their father, Gustav, a once-famous director who has been absent from their lives for many years. Gustav hopes to restart his career with a new film and offers the lead role to Nora, who is a stage actress. After Nora declines the offer, Gustav casts a young star from Hollywood instead. This decision, along with the production taking place in their ancestral family home, forces the daughters to confront their father and their shared past.

Directed by Joachim Trier, this comedy-drama is the sixth film in his career, following The Worst Person in the World. The screenplay was written by Trier and Eskil Vogt. The ensemble cast features Renate Reinsve as Nora, Stellan Skarsgård as Gustav, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas as Agnes, and Elle Fanning as Rachel Kemp.
