Short description
Kirsty Cotton, the young woman who once escaped Pinhead and his Cenobites, is now married to a stockbroker named Trevor Gooden. After a car crash leaves Trevor the only survivor and Kirsty missing, he returns to work but is haunted by nightmares and strange events. The police suspect him of murdering his wife, and as he tries to clear himself, he uncovers a conspiracy. His search leads him into a hellish, dreamlike maze in which the boundary between the living and the dead is unclear, and every path seems to draw him closer to Pinhead.
Hellraiser: Hellseeker was released in 2002 and directed by Rick Bota, whose first feature it was; he went on to direct Hellraiser: Hellworld and Hellraiser: Deader. The screenplay is by Carl V. Dupré and Tim Day, and the cast includes Dean Winters as Trevor, Ashley Laurence returning as Kirsty, Rachel Hayward, Sarah-Jane Redmond, William S. Taylor, and Doug Bradley as Pinhead.
Made on a budget of about 3 million dollars, the film has an IMDb rating of 4.8 from around 16,000 votes and a TMDB rating of 5 out of 10 from over 400 votes.
What's left behind the scenes
- At approximately the 51st minute of the film, the characters played by Dean Winters and Trevor White are standing by a water cooler, and a scene occurs involving an extra who played a bit part and was not even mentioned in the credits. Director Rick Botta called him the "$10,000 extra." The thing is, labor laws in the Canadian province of British Columbia prohibit directors from giving orders to extras directly (all instructions must be relayed through the assistant director). When Botta instinctively told the extra to play the scene again but slightly differently, he was hit with a fine of several thousand dollars payable to the aforementioned actor.
- The filmmakers were unsure if Ashley Lawrence would agree to play the role of Kirstie again, so they arranged to film with Sarah-Jane Redmond just in case. The filmmakers liked her performance so much that they included her in the cast anyway, even after Lawrence agreed to the role. Redmond ended up playing the role of Gwen.
