Rosebush Pruning
Short description
A wealthy American family lives in isolation within an opulent Spanish villa, relying on inherited fortunes and material luxuries. The arrival of an outsider and the decision of the eldest brother to move out with his girlfriend disrupt the family dynamic. These events cause long-standing tensions to surface, leading one brother to investigate the circumstances surrounding their mother's death as their domestic bonds disintegrate. This production is a contemporary version of Marco Bellocchio's film Poing dans les poches.
Directed by Karim Aïnouz, this project follows his previous works, including Firebrand and Motel Destino from 2024. The screenplay was written by Efthymis Filippou and produced by Viola Fügen, Michael Weber, and Simone Gattoni. The ensemble cast features Jamie Bell, Riley Keough, Callum Turner, Lukas Gage, Elle Fanning, and Tracy Letts. This multi-national production involving companies such as RAI Cinema and The Match Factory blends elements of comedy, drama, and thriller. Since its release on April 23, 2026, the film has received a rating of 6.2/10 on TMDB based on 50 votes.
What's left behind the scenes
