Odds and Evens is a 1978 Italian action comedy directed by Sergio Corbucci, who wrote the screenplay with Mario Amendola and Sabatino Ciuffini. Terence Hill plays Johnny Firpo, a naval officer whose superiors have lost patience with the gambling syndicates draining his fellow sailors' pay in Florida. Sent to break the operation, Johnny lacks any real knowledge of betting, so he turns to his half-brother Charlie, a trucker and former professional gambler played by Bud Spencer, whose card skills make him a valuable partner even though he has sworn off that world. Their efforts to infiltrate the syndicate, led by Luciano Catenacci's Paragoulis, are complicated by a nun, Sister Susanna, played by Marisa Laurito, who hopes to win enough money to save her orphanage.
The film is the eleventh of fourteen Corbucci directed, following The Beast and preceding Super Fuzz, and it pairs Hill and Spencer in the kind of comedy the two had become known for together. The supporting cast of twenty-four credited players includes Kim McKay as Pupa and Salvatore Borgese as Nynfus.
Odds and Evens holds a 7.1 rating from around 11,000 votes on IMDb and a 7 on TMDB from a smaller voter pool of 455, a level of approval that suggests a durable following rather than a broadly rediscovered title.
