Silverado

Four men with troubled pasts converge on the frontier town of Silverado in the 1880s. Emmett, a capable gunman, frees his brother Jake from a jail cell where he awaits hanging, and along the way he and the drifter Paden pick up Mal, a Black cowboy driven out of a town because of his race. Each is a skilled marksman, and together they ride toward Silverado, where a corrupt sheriff and a powerful cattleman hold the region in their grip and where the four find themselves drawn into a fight they did not set out to join.

Lawrence Kasdan directed and produced the film, and wrote the screenplay with his brother Mark Kasdan. It followed his first two features, Body Heat in 1981 and The Big Chill in 1983, and stands as the third film he directed. The large cast includes Kevin Kline, Scott Glenn, Danny Glover, Kevin Costner, Brian Dennehy and Rosanna Arquette, with 42 credited cast members and 135 credited crew.

Made by Columbia Pictures for about 26 million dollars, the film returned roughly 32 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 7.2 out of 10 from around 54,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.9 out of 10 from about 851 votes. A critics' rating of 7.1 out of 10 from 37 reviews places it close to the audience scores.
