Short description
A father named Luis and his son Esteban travel through the mountains and deserts of Morocco to find Luis's daughter, who vanished months earlier at a rave. Accompanied by their dog, they navigate harsh landscapes and visit various electronic music parties, distributing a photograph of the missing woman. As they follow a group of ravers toward a final event in the Sahara, the journey pushes the pair to their physical and emotional limits.
This drama and thriller was directed by Oliver Laxe, who also wrote the screenplay with Santiago Fillol. Following his 2019 film Fire Will Come, Laxe worked with producers Agustín Almodóvar, Pedro Almodóvar, and Xavier Font to bring this production to the screen. The movie stars Sergi López and Bruno Núñez, with supporting roles played by Stefania Gadda, Joshua Liam Henderson, Richard Bellamy, and Tonin Janvier.
The film was produced by companies from Germany, Spain, and France with a budget of 7 million USD. It earned 10 million USD at the worldwide box office, indicating a modest profit. - Aside from Sergi Lopez, who played Luis, the film primarily features non-professional actors. The characters' names as performed by the actors coincide with their real names or nicknames – Tonin, Stefania, Joshua, Jade, and others. They were cast on the street, just like their characters, and are mostly marginalized individuals involved in street festivals.
- Some parts of the film had to be shot in Spain (a requirement stipulated by the sponsors), so locations that could pass for the Moroccan desert had to be found in that country.
- Filming in Morocco took four weeks and took place near the cities of Er-Rachidia and Erfoud. According to director and screenwriter Oliver Laxe, the filming took place in scorching heat and sandstorms were frequent. One such storm damaged equipment and lenses.
