Short description
As Stitch, a runaway genetic experiment from a faraway planet, wreaks havoc on the Hawaiian Islands, he becomes the mischievous adopted alien "puppy" of an independent little girl named Lilo and learns about loyalty, friendship, and ʻohana, the Hawaiian tradition of family.
What's left behind the scenes
- The cartoon had sequels that were not as successful as the original.
- As the cartoon's author, Chris Sanders, recounted, a huge number of watercolor sketches were used as backgrounds during its creation.
- Episodes from previous Disney films (“The Little Mermaid” (1989), “Beauty and the Beast” (1991), “The Lion King” (1994), “Aladdin” (1992)) were shown as promotional clips, in which Stitch interfered with the events of the film.
- In the scene where the aliens calculate Stitch's landing trajectory, Earth's code name is Area 51.
- Excerpts from previous Disney films ("The Little Mermaid" (1989), "Beauty and the Beast" (1991), "The Lion King" (1994), "Aladdin" (1992)) were shown as commercials, featuring Stitch interfering with the events of the films.
- Among the deleted scenes was an episode where Stitch hijacks a Boeing airplane (cut after the events of September 11th) and where he inadvertently causes the death of Lilo's fish.
- It’s easy to guess that the creators of the animated film “Mulan” (1998) worked on this cartoon. A poster for this cartoon hangs in Nani’s bedroom, a restaurant has a sign reading “Mulan Wok,” and a dog shelter has a poster with a dog resembling Little Brother.
- The cartoon is filled with songs by Elvis Presley.
- Initially, Stitch's number was planned to be 666.
