The Summer with Carmen

Two friends spend a day at a queer beach in Athens, where they discuss the events of a previous summer to develop a screenplay for a debut feature film. The plot focuses on Demosthenes and his reunion with an ex-partner named Panos, who had adopted a dog called Carmen. As the pair attempt to structure these real-life experiences into a traditional hero's journey, they examine the concept of character change and the nature of their own long-term friendship.

The comedy was directed by Zacharias Mavroeidis, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Xenofondas Chalatsis. The film stars Yorgos Tsiantoulas as Demosthenes and Andreas Labropoulos as Nikitas, alongside Nikolas Mihas, Roubini Vasilakopoulou, Vasilis Tsigristaris, and Nantia Margariti. A total of 26 actors are credited in the production.

Released in 2023, the movie has received generally positive feedback from viewers. It holds a rating of 6.6/10 on IMDb based on 1,700 votes and a rating of 6.5/10 on TMDB from 29 votes.
