Short description
KILL follows Amrit, an army commando travelling to New Delhi with a fellow soldier on a train. He is determined to stop the arranged marriage of Tulika, the woman he loves, whose family is taking her to the capital for the wedding. The journey turns violent when a large group of armed thieves begins robbing and attacking the passengers. With no weapons of his own, Amrit fights back using whatever he can find on board, turning the train into a running battleground.
The film is directed and written by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat and produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Guneet Monga for Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment. Lakshya leads as Amrit, with Raghav Juyal, Tanya Maniktala, Ashish Vidhyarthi, Abhishek Chauhan and Harsh Chhaya among the credited cast of eighty-one. Made for about five million dollars, it took in roughly six million worldwide.
On IMDb it holds 7.4/10 from around 46,000 votes, and on TMDB 7.2/10 from 537 votes; a critics' rating of 7.2/10 from 107 reviews places it close to both audience scores. Released in July 2024, the action thriller runs 105 minutes and was produced by India and the United States.
What's left behind the scenes
- The film is based on the true story of retired Corporal Bishnu Shrestha from the Gurkha regiment, which took place in September 2010. Bishnu was traveling by train when, at night, the train was stopped by a stop valve pulled by 40 armed robbers who began to steal valuables from passengers. When the bandits decided to rape a girl in front of her parents, Shrestha drew his kukri combat knife and engaged the criminals in a fight. During the clash, Bishnu received serious injuries to his left arm, but continued to fight with his right. As a result, three bandits were killed, eight were seriously wounded, and the rest fled in fear, unable to cope with Shrestha in the narrow aisles of the train. For his courage and heroism, Bishnu Shrestha was awarded two medals. He refused the monetary reward offered to him by the family of the girl he saved.
