Anthony Zimmer

François Taillandier is an ordinary man whose life changes after a brief encounter on a train with an alluring woman, Chiara. She invites him to spend a weekend with her on the Riviera, and he falls for her quickly. The next morning she is gone, and the police take him in for questioning. Only then does François learn that he has been used as a decoy for Anthony Zimmer, a financial criminal wanted by police forces around the world for laundering money on behalf of organized crime. Because Zimmer has altered his appearance through surgery, no one knows what he actually looks like, and François bears enough of a resemblance to be mistaken for him by both the authorities and the criminals pursuing Zimmer.

The film is a crime drama with thriller and romance elements, set largely in and around Nice. Jérôme Salle wrote and directed it, making his feature directing debut before going on to make The Heir Apparent: Largo Winch, Largo Winch II, Zulu, The Odyssey and Kompromat. Sophie Marceau plays Chiara, with Yvan Attal as François and Anthony Zimmer, Sami Frey as the investigator Akerman, Gilles Lellouche as Müller, and Daniel Olbrychski as Nassaiev.

Among audiences the film received a mixed response, with an IMDb rating of 6.5 from roughly 8,800 votes and a TMDB rating of 6.3 from around 254 votes. Critics were considerably warmer, giving it 7.5 out of 10 across 131 reviews.
