Son of the Mullah

This documentary follows the life of Roholla Zam, an exiled Iranian journalist living in France who exposed money laundering activities within the Iranian regime. The film examines the methods used by the Iranian state to target critics living abroad, focusing on how Zam was lured into Iraq, abducted, and transported back to Iran. Following fourteen months of imprisonment, he was executed by the state.

Directed by Nahid Persson Sarvestani, who also serves as the narrator, the film is a Swedish production created with SVT, ARTE, DR2 Productions, and RealReel Doc. Sarvestani has previously directed My Stolen Revolution and Prostitution Behind the Veil. The cast features Roholla Zam as the central subject and victim, alongside journalists Ali Javanmardi and Maziyar, who appear as witnesses. The film has a runtime of 100 minutes and blends elements of crime, drama, and documentary storytelling.
