Tarika

Tarika is a drama about a young girl living in a remote hut near a border with her father and grandmother. Because of a rare hereditary bone condition that gives her butterfly-like wings, she has long been the target of local superstitions. The tension between her family and the prejudiced villagers escalates when a mysterious disease begins to kill the local cattle, fueling fear and suspicion among the residents.

The film was directed by Milko Lazarov, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Ekaterina Churilova and Simeon Ventsislavov. A joint production between Germany, Bulgaria, and Luxembourg, the movie was produced by companies including ZDF/Arte, Amour Fou Luxembourg, 42film, and Red Carpet. The cast features Vesela Valcheva in the title role, supported by Zahari Baharov, Ivan Savov, Ivan Barnev, Christos Stergioglou, and Valeria Varbanova. The movie has a runtime of 86 minutes and was released on October 10, 2024.
