Paradises of Diane

Following the birth of her first child, a woman named Diane leaves her family and newborn behind to flee to Portugal. Struggling with postpartum depression, she wanders through an unfamiliar city where she confronts her past and the reasons for her escape. The story follows her personal transformation as she experiences the collapse of her ideals and attempts to rediscover herself.

This Swiss drama was co-directed by Carmen Jaquier and Jan Gassmann. It is the second film directed by Jaquier, following Thunder from 2022, and the second for Gassmann, following 99 Moons from 2023. Jaquier also wrote the screenplay. The film stars Dorothée de Koon in the lead role, appearing alongside Aurore Clément, Stéphanie Lagarde, Roland Bonjour, Omar Ayuso, and Duncan Airlie James. Produced by RTS and 2:1 Film, the movie has a runtime of 95 minutes and was released on March 21, 2024.
