Kadaisi Vivasayi

Maayandi is the only person left in his village who still farms. He is elderly, lives in a remote part of Tamil Nadu, and keeps his fields and animals going while everyone around him has given up on agriculture. He has no interest in selling his land. His quiet life ends when he is accused of a minor offence, said to involve three peacocks, and is taken to prison. The case against him becomes the centre of the story.

Kadaisi Vivasayi is a Tamil-language drama written, produced and directed by M. Manikandan. It is his second feature, following Wind in 2010, and it came before Muthu Alias Kaattaan in 2026. The cast is led by Nallandi as Maayandi, with Vijay Sethupathi as Ramaiah, Yogi Babu as an elephant mahout, and Raichal Rabecca Philip as a magistrate.

The film runs 145 minutes and was released in February 2022. On IMDb it holds 8.7 out of 10 from around 10,000 votes, and on TMDB it has 8.6 out of 10 from roughly 26 votes. The large gap in vote numbers is notable: the score on IMDb rests on a broad response, while the TMDB figure reflects a much smaller group of users.
