You Should Have Been Here Yesterday

You Should Have Been Here Yesterday is a documentary that uses previously unreleased 16mm footage to chronicle a free-spirited community. The film follows these individuals as they travel along the coast and establish an alternative way of living, while examining the nature of memory and what is preserved from the past. The visual elements are paired with a soundscape created by Headland.

Directed by Jolyon Hoff, this project marks the first film in a chronological list of his directorial work, followed by We Are Not Powerless in 2025. The screenplay was written by Hoff and Ernest Hariyanto. The production was supported by the South Australian Film Corporation, Screen NSW, Umbrella Entertainment, and Eleven Post Production in Australia. The cast includes Paul Witzig, Dick Hoole, Evelyn Rich, and Steve Otton appearing as themselves, along with others such as Tim Winton, Wayne Lynch, Bob McTavish, Albe Falzon, and Maurice Cole.
