Sophie is a twenty-year-old woman from California who has spent much of her life isolated from others. While visiting Palermo with her sister, she meets a local man named Giulio and his group of friends during her final day in Italy. What begins as a whirlwind romance and an attempt to break free from her sheltered background quickly spirals into a dangerous situation. Over the course of twenty-four hours, Sophie becomes entangled in the criminal underworld of Sicily, facing a struggle for survival after being involved in a robbery.
The film was directed by Gabriele Muccino, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Paolo Costella. It is the tenth film in Muccino's directing career, following The Best Years and preceding Things We Don't Say. The movie stars Elena Kampouris as Sophie and Saul Nanni as Giulio, with a supporting cast that includes Lorenzo Richelmy, Enrico Elia Inserra, Francesco Garilli, and Ruby Kammer.
Produced by Lotus Production and Leone Film Group with a budget of 11 million USD, the film has received mixed reactions from viewers. It holds a rating of 5/10 on IMDb based on 756 votes and a score of 5.5/10 on TMDB from 91 votes.
