The empire of Izmer is split between the ruling mages and the common people who serve them. When Empress Savina promises equality and prosperity for everyone, the mage Profion moves against her, and the struggle becomes a race for two objects that command dragons. Savina turns for help to the thieves Ridley and Snails, who set out with the dwarf Elwood, the elf tracker Norda and the mage apprentice Marina to find the artifact that could stop Profion and his follower Damodar.

The film is the first feature directed by Courtney Solomon, who also produced it with Kia Jam and Thomas M. Hammel from a screenplay by Topper Lilien and Carroll Cartwright. Justin Whalin and Marlon Wayans play the two thieves, with Jeremy Irons as Profion, Thora Birch as Savina, Bruce Payne as Damodar and Zoe McLellan as Marina. It was made for about 35 million USD and took roughly 15 million USD at the worldwide box office, a return well below its cost.

Reception was weak across the board. On IMDb it holds 3.6/10 from 35,822 votes, and on TMDB 4.4/10 from 702 votes, while critics gave it 3.2/10 from 94 reviews, so audiences and critics alike rated it poorly. Solomon went on to direct An American Haunting and Getaway.
