Bad Director is a comedy about Gregor Samsa, an aging film director in his late fifties who feels he has wasted his life working in the cultural sector. Frustrated with his existence, he seeks solace in alcohol and visits to brothels. While wandering through the city, he meets Grete, a woman he finds attractive and believes would be the ideal lead for his next project. However, the production begins the following day, and Gregor's irritability toward the small concerns of those around him threatens to push the shoot into total chaos.
The film was written and directed by Oskar Roehler, following his previous works Latin Lover – Wilde Leidenschaft auf Mallorca from 1999 and Agnes and His Brothers from 2004.
