Set in 2005, this drama and thriller follows Nicola Calipari, a secret service agent for SISMI tasked with rescuing Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena after her abduction by an Iraqi terrorist cell. The story focuses on the twenty-eight days leading up to the rescue operation in Baghdad. While Calipari works to secure Sgrena's release, the mission is complicated by the interference of United States forces. The attempt to save the journalist ultimately results in Calipari's death, causing a significant diplomatic conflict between Italy and the United States.
Directed by Alessandro Tonda, the film stars Claudio Santamaria as Nicola Calipari and Sonia Bergamasco as Giuliana Sgrena. The supporting cast includes Anna Ferzetti, Marta Giovannozzi, Sergio Romano, and Jerry Mastrodomenico. Produced by RAI Cinema, Notorious Pictures, and Tarantula, the production had a budget of 7 million USD. However, it earned 1 million USD at the worldwide box office, indicating it did not recover its production costs. On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 6.6/10 based on 1,100 votes, while on TMDB it has a slightly higher rating of 7.1/10 from 112 votes.
