This documentary examines the Averroès and Rosa Parks units of the Esquirol Hospital in France. Through a series of individual interviews and meetings between patients and their caregivers, the film explores psychiatric care that prioritizes the voices and rehabilitation of those receiving treatment. It portrays the personal worlds of the individuals involved while considering the challenge of integrating isolated people into society within a struggling healthcare system.
The film was directed and written by Nicolas Philibert. Following his previous works, To Be and to Have, Nénette's Birthday, and On the Adamant, this production is one of two films he released in 2024, alongside The Typewriter and Other Headaches. The cast includes Christophe Doinel and Célia Bagla appearing as themselves. The project was produced by several companies, including France Télévisions, TS Productions, Les Films du Losange, and UniversCiné. It has a total runtime of 143 minutes.
