Evil Dead Burn
Short description
Following the sudden death of her husband, Alice travels to a remote family estate to find comfort with her in-laws. The gathering turns into a nightmare as the family members transform into demonic creatures that prey on fear. During the struggle for survival, Alice learns that the marriage vows she made continue to bind her to her husband even after his passing.
This horror thriller was directed by Sébastien Vaniček, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Florent Bernard. It is the second film Vaniček has directed, following his 2023 movie Infested. The production was a joint effort between Canada, New Zealand, and the United States, involving companies such as Columbia Pictures and New Line Cinema, with Robert Tapert and Sam Raimi serving as producers. The film stars Souheila Yacoub as Alice, alongside Tandi Wright, Hunter Doohan, Luciane Buchanan, Erroll Shand, and Maude Davey.
Produced on a budget of 20 million USD, the movie earned 72 million USD at the worldwide box office. Audience reception has been generally positive, with a rating of 6.6/10 on IMDb from 23,801 votes and a higher score of 7.7/10 on TMDB based on 1,557 votes.

- Suheyla Yakub landed the lead role after Sebastian Vannichel saw her in the play 'Tous des oiseaux' (All Birds). Sebastian initially wanted to cast Suheyla in 'Web of Fear,' but the actress was busy with other projects.
- According to director Sebastian Vannichel, he received offers from several Hollywood studios following 'Web of Fear.' However, most of them involved working from existing scripts. Only the offer to film his own story within the 'Evil Dead' universe interested the director.
- Suheyla Yakub tried to perform as many of her own stunts as possible. By the end of filming, her body was covered in bruises, and it took nearly a month to recover.
- According to actor Hunter Doohan, filming the car scene took several days because the limited space in the cabin required the camera to be repositioned and the actors to be rearranged frequently.
- To better prepare for the role, Hunter Doohan rewatched all the films in the Evil Dead franchise and the series Ash vs Evil Dead before the casting and during the selection process. He also studied the film Web of Fear to understand the directorial style of Sebastian Vannicike.
- According to actor Hunter Doohan, the scene in which Joseph crushes another character's head was achieved using dummies and practical effects. In one of the following scenes, Hunter's character had to dip into the "skull remains," which turned out to be sweet since the contents of the "cranium" consisted of fake blood and a banana.
- Despite initial plans to have a stunt double perform the scene where Joseph crushes another character's head, Hunter Doohan insisted on doing it himself, as he believed this moment was key for his character.
- Several references to Sebastian Vanichek's previous work, the film 'Cobweb of Fear,' can be spotted in the movie. These include a VHS tape of the film, the appearance of a spider, and Nike TN sneakers.
- The dinner scene took three days to film.
- To prepare for the role, Hunter Doohan rewatched all the films in the Evil Dead franchise and the Ash vs Evil Dead series, as well as the film Cobweb, to understand director Sebastian Vannicelli's style.
