The Crocodiles

Hannes is a ten-year-old boy living with his single mother who dreams of joining a local youth gang known as the Crocodiles. During a dangerous initiation test, Hannes is saved by Kai, a boy who uses a wheelchair. While Hannes welcomes him, the other gang members are reluctant to accept a member with a disability. However, after Kai witnesses a robbery, the group agrees to let him join if he helps them identify the criminals. Together, the children use their ingenuity to track down the thieves and solve the crime.

Directed by Christian Ditter, this adventure family film was released in 2009. It marks the first in a chronological series of works for Ditter, followed by The Crocodiles Strike Back in 2010 and several subsequent films including Momo in 2025. The movie features a cast including Nick Romeo Reimann, Fabian Halbig, Leonie Tepe, Manuel Steitz, David Hürten, and Javidan Imani.

Produced in Germany by Constantin Film, Rat Pack Filmproduktion, and Westside Filmproduktion, the film earned 5 million USD at the worldwide box office. Audience reception is generally positive, with a rating of 7.2 on TMDB from 132 votes and a 6.2 score on IMDb based on 1,900 votes.
