Mountain Ride is a Swiss documentary that examines a shifting perspective on the Alps following years of mass tourism. The film explores how various individuals, including philosophers, researchers, and artists, seek to understand the true essence of the mountains. It presents contrasting viewpoints on the region's value, featuring a mountain railway employee, a climber reflecting on a lost friend at the Eiger North Face, and a Japanese performance duo who utilize myths and legends to approach the landscape. Through these stories, the film looks at the need to redefine traditional values during a period of change.
Dominique Margot wrote and directed the film, which was produced by SRF, Maximage, and 3sat Zürich. The production was led by producers Brigitte Hofer and Cornelia Seitler. The documentary has a runtime of 97 minutes.
