The Pickers is a documentary that examines the systemic exploitation of migrant workers in the European agricultural sector. The film focuses on the people who harvest produce such as olives, oranges, strawberries, and blueberries across Spain, Italy, Greece, and Portugal. It explores the harsh living and working conditions faced by these laborers, many of whom lack official contracts, minimum wages, or legal residency, and some of whom are burdened by debts to recruiters.
Directed by Elke Sasse and produced by Berlin Producers, the film has a runtime of 80 minutes. It was released on April 16, 2026.
