Yolo follows Le Ying, a woman who has spent years withdrawn at home after finishing college and a brief stint in the workforce, avoiding contact with almost everyone around her. After a falling-out with her younger sister, she moves out and tries to live on her own. She then meets boxing trainer Hao Kun, and through him takes up the sport, which becomes the path by which she tries to rebuild her life.
The film is directed by Jia Ling, who also stars as Le Ying and co-wrote the screenplay with Sun Jibin and Bu Yu. It is her second feature, following Hi, Mom (2021), and it was produced by Zhao Nan, Ning Li and Tian Tian for Tencent Penguin Pictures, China Film Group Corporation and Alibaba Pictures Group. The cast includes Lei Jiayin as Hao Kun, Zhang Xiaofei as Le Dan, Yang Zi as Doudou, Sha Yi as Old Liang and Qiao Shan as Shanzi, among about twenty credited performers. Made for roughly 100 million USD, it took about 434 million USD worldwide, a strong return on its budget.
On IMDb the film holds a 6.8 rating from 122 votes, while a small group of five critics rated it 7 out of 10.
