Echoes from Borderland

Echoes from Borderland is a documentary that examines the struggles of refugees stranded in Bosnia-Herzegovina following the 2021 Taliban takeover of Afghanistan. The story focuses on Nahid, a 15-year-old girl living in a tent camp near the European Union border. As she experiences the hardship of border pushbacks, she develops a supportive relationship with Ferida, a local woman from a nearby village. This connection prompts Ferida to recall her own personal experiences and memories of a past civil war.

The film was produced in Germany by Sommer Slatter Film and Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film München. It was directed by Lara Milena Brose, who also served as a producer alongside Felix Sommer and Thomas Slatter. The documentary has a runtime of 70 minutes and was released on January 22, 2026.
