Up, Up, and Away

The Marshall family look ordinary, but each member has a secret identity and superpowers. Scott, who is about to turn fourteen, is the exception: he has no abilities of his own, and he tries to hide that from the rest of the family. When a criminal figure captures his relatives, Scott becomes the only one left who can help them, and he has to work out that being a hero does not require superpowers.

This Disney Channel television film was directed by Robert Townsend, its fifth entry in the chronological list of his features, after Eddie Murphy Raw, Hollywood Shuffle, The Meteor Man and Jackie's Back! Townsend also appears in the cast as Jim Marshall, with Michael J. Pagan as Scott, Alex Datcher, Sherman Hemsley, Kevin Connolly and Olivia Burnette among the 26 credited performers. Dan Berendsen wrote the screenplay.

Running 77 minutes, the film mixes action, comedy, family and science fiction. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.7 from 37 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.5 from 55 votes, with both audiences landing in similar territory and the small number of votes suggesting a modest viewership.
