How Music Got Free

This documentary examines the shift in the music industry during the late 1990s and early 2000s caused by new technology. It focuses on the story of Dell Glover, a CD factory worker who helped pioneer music piracy. Alongside young hackers, Glover contributed to the rise of MP3 file sharing, which allowed millions of people to download music for free and disrupted the existing global industry.

Directed by Alex Stapleton, this project followed her 2023 film Reggie and preceded The Brittney Griner Story in 2026. The production was a collaboration between Paramount, MTV Entertainment Studios, Interscope Films, and The SpringHill Company, with LeBron James serving as a producer.
