The Hunchback of Notre Dame II

Set in medieval Paris after the events of the first film, this animated sequel follows Quasimodo, now the bell ringer of Notre-Dame with no Frollo standing over him. He has found a friend in Zephyr, the young son of Esmeralda and Phoebus, who helps him with the bells. A travelling circus arrives in the city, run by the magician Sarousch, and Quasimodo becomes drawn to Madellaine, one of its performers. Sarousch has his own purpose for the visit: he intends to take the cathedral's most celebrated bell, and he uses Madellaine as his means of getting close to it. When Zephyr becomes caught up in the scheme, Quasimodo and his friends must act. The gargoyles and the rest of his circle appear alongside him as the story moves toward a rescue.

Bradley Raymond directed, working from a screenplay by Flip Kobler, Cindy Marcus and Jule Selbo, with Stephen Swofford producing. It sits between Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas and The Lion King 1½ among the director's features. Tom Hulce returns as the voice of Quasimodo, joined by Jennifer Love Hewitt as Madellaine, Michael McKean as Sarousch, Jason Alexander as the gargoyle Hugo, Charles Kimbrough as Victor and Paul Kandel as Clopin, among a credited cast of 27.

Made by Walt Disney Pictures with Disney Television Animation and Walt Disney Animation Japan, the film runs 68 minutes and was released in February 2002. Critical response was weak, at 4/10 from nine reviews, and audiences were similarly unenthusiastic, with 4.6/10 on IMDb from around 9,000 votes and 5.4/10 on TMDB from 863.
