Batman

Batman is a 1943 Columbia Pictures serial in fifteen chapters, running 260 minutes in total. It follows Bruce Wayne and his young ward Dick Grayson, who fight crime as Batman and Robin, as they pursue a Japanese spy ring operating from a largely abandoned Little Tokyo district of Gotham City. The organization's leader, Daka, turns American scientists into obedient zombies and uses a device capable of dissolving solid walls, while his agents transmit what they see back to his laboratory. The heroes, aided by Alfred and by Bruce's circle of allies, work to break up the operation.

Lambert Hillyer directed, following Dracula's Daughter in his filmography. The screenplay is credited to Leslie Swabacker, Harry L. Fraser and Victor McLeod, with Rudolph C. Flothow producing. Lewis Wilson plays Bruce Wayne, Douglas Croft plays Dick Grayson, J. Carrol Naish plays Tito Daka, Shirley Patterson plays Linda Page, William Austin plays Alfred and Knox Manning provides narration; fifty performers are credited in all.
