Short description
Set in Paris during the late 1950s, this historical drama and comedy follows Jean-Luc Godard, a writer for Cahiers du cinéma. While his colleagues have already begun directing their own features, Godard has only produced short films. Driven by the belief that directing is the ultimate form of film criticism, he secures funding from producer Beauregard to create a low-budget movie. Working with François Truffaut on the treatment, Godard casts Jean-Paul Belmondo as a fugitive and American actress Jean Seberg as his unstable partner to bring a crime-based story to the screen.
Directed by Richard Linklater, this is the 22nd film in his career, following Blue Moon. The movie stars Guillaume Marbeck, Zoey Deutch, and Aubry Dullin. Produced by Detour Filmproduction and ARP Sélection, the project had a budget of 10 million USD and earned 3 million USD at the worldwide box office.
