In nineteenth-century Canada, sisters Ginger and Brigitte Fitzgerald find shelter at a remote trading fort whose inhabitants live in fear of creatures roaming the surrounding land. When Ginger is bitten by one of them, the change that follows forces the sisters to depend on each other, with a local hunter among the few outsiders willing to help.
Grant Harvey directed the film, working from a screenplay by Stephen Massicotte and Christina Ray. It stands as the first film Harvey directed, ahead of A Christmas Horror Story in 2015, and shares its lead actresses with the earlier entries in the series: Katharine Isabelle plays Ginger and Emily Perkins plays Brigitte, alongside Nathaniel Arcand, JR Bourne, Hugh Dillon and Adrien Dorval. Steven Hoban, Harvey and Paula Devonshire produced the Canadian production for Lions Gate Films, Copperheart Entertainment and 49 Film, with a budget of 4 million USD.
On IMDb the film holds a rating of 5.8 from 11,429 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.1 from 318 votes, placing it in modest territory with audiences. The setting moves the werewolf story back to the nineteenth century, shifting the series away from the present-day suburbs of its earlier films into a period frontier fort.
