Leprechaun: Origins

Two young couples backpacking through rural Ireland accept an offer from a local farmer to stay in a remote cabin near an ancient stone monument. Their trip turns dangerous when they find they are not alone in the woods, and a well-known Irish legend proves to be real.

Directed by Zach Lipovsky, this 2014 horror film was the second feature he directed, following Tasmanian Devils a year earlier. Harris Wilkinson wrote the screenplay, and the cast includes Stephanie Bennett, Andrew Dunbar, Melissa Roxburgh and Brendan Fletcher as the four travellers, with Garry Chalk as Hamish and Teach Grant as Sean. The film was produced by Lionsgate and WWE Studios and runs for 90 minutes.

Reception was poor. On IMDb and TMDB the audience ratings sit at a low level, while the critics' score of 2 out of 10, drawn from eight reviews, is worse still, showing that professional reviewers were considerably harsher than general viewers. Lipovsky went on to direct Dead Rising: Watchtower, Freaks, Kim Possible, Final Destination Bloodlines and Freaks Part II.
