The Pool is a documentary centered on the Bondi Icebergs swimming pool in Australia. The film explores the facility as a gathering place for a diverse range of people, from children learning to swim to lifelong visitors who brave the cold water. Through the personal accounts of various individuals, the story examines the desire for human connection and the sense of equality found within a shared community.
The film was directed by Ian Darling, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Sally Fryer and served as a producer alongside Mary Macrae. This project was the first in a sequence of films directed by Darling, followed by The Valley in 2026. Produced by Shark Island Productions, the movie features a cast of 35 credited individuals appearing as themselves, including Neil Rogers, Margaret Simpson Lee, Russell Cheek, Alan Gow, Janice Cranch, and Jason McCormack. The production utilized a soundtrack inspired by the 1960s to accompany its 95-minute runtime.
