Still Smokin

Still Smokin finds comedy duo Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong travelling to Amsterdam for what they believe is a celebrity festival. On arrival they learn that the man who invited them has disappeared with the money, leaving the event with almost nothing to spend. The organisers are in fact expecting Burt Reynolds and Dolly Parton, and the two visitors end up filling those roles as the festival's stand-in guests. Much of the film follows them around the city, through their hotel and the surrounding events, with the pair smoking their way through the confusion.

Tommy Chong directed, as he had the two earlier entries in the series, Cheech & Chong's Next Movie and Nice Dreams, and the screenplay is credited to both Marin and Chong. The supporting cast is largely Dutch, among them Hans Man in 't Veld as the promoter, Carol van Herwijnen as the hotel manager, Shireen Strooker as the assistant manager and Susan Hahn as the hotel maid. The film runs 91 minutes and was released in May 1983.

It performed modestly with critics, whose rating stands at 3.2 out of 10, and audiences have been similarly measured: 5.4 from around 8,400 votes on IMDb and 5.3 from roughly 120 on TMDB. Its worldwide take of about 16 million dollars was nevertheless enough to keep the series commercially viable.
