This hybrid documentary drama focuses on the residents of Covas do Barroso in northern Portugal. The community organizes a resistance movement after learning that a British firm, Savannah Resources, intends to establish Europe's largest open-pit lithium mine in close proximity to their homes. To fight the industrial project and protect their land, the locals stage their own struggle using elements of western imagery and song.
The film was directed by Paulo Carneiro, who previously directed Bostofrio in 2018. Carneiro also co-wrote the screenplay and served as a producer alongside Alex Piperno and Miguel de Jesus. The production was a joint effort between Portugal and Uruguay through the companies Bam Bam Cinema and La Pobladora Cine. The cast includes Carlos Libo, Paulo Sanches, Daniel Loureiro, Aida Fernandes, Maria Loureiro, and Lúcia Esteves. Released on March 26, 2025, the film has a runtime of 78 minutes.
