The Home

Joel returns to his hometown to assist his mother, Monika, after she suffers a severe health crisis. While trying to care for her, Joel notices that Monika begins acting aggressively and experiencing frightening visions of her deceased husband, who was an abusive man. As the situation worsens, Joel suspects a supernatural presence is controlling his mother. However, his own struggles with mental instability and substance abuse make him question if his perceptions are accurate. The experience forces him to face traumatic memories from his childhood home.

This horror thriller was directed by Mattias J. Skoglund, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Mats Strandberg. This was the first of two films directed by Skoglund, followed by The Nursing Home in 2026.
