Fakir

Fakir is a documentary focusing on Dalibor, a young Romani man living in a Slovak slum. The film examines his psychological struggles as he deals with the trauma and abuse stemming from a dysfunctional family. Deprived of a normal childhood, Dalibor searches for a father figure while navigating a marginalized existence. His internal pain is mirrored by his experiences in a circus, where he finds a strange sense of refuge through the physical suffering of a nailbed.

The film was directed by Roman Ďuriš, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Michaela Hošková. Produced through a collaboration between companies in Poland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic, the production includes RTVS and Bright Sight Pictures. Dalibor Lezo appears as himself in the lead role. The documentary has a total runtime of 82 minutes.
