Stealing Harvard

John Plummer is a mild-mannered man who has finally saved enough to marry his girlfriend and put a down payment on a house. Then his sister calls with news that his niece has been accepted to Harvard, and John is reminded of a promise he once made to cover her tuition. The sum is roughly what he and his fiancée have scraped together, and with his friend Duff urging him on, John turns to small-time crime to raise the money. Duff's ideas quickly go wrong, and the pair find themselves in far more trouble than either intended.

Bruce McCulloch directed the film, his second feature after Superstar, from a screenplay by Peter Tolan. Jason Lee plays John, Tom Green plays Duff, and Leslie Mann, Megan Mullally, Dennis Farina and Tammy Blanchard appear in supporting roles. The production, backed by Columbia Pictures, Imagine Entertainment and Revolution Studios, cost about 25 million dollars and returned roughly 14 million worldwide.

On IMDb the film holds a rating of 5.1 from around 14,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 4.9 from about 153 votes. A critics' rating of 3.6 from 104 reviews places it below even those modest audience scores.
