Dead Man's Shoes
Short description
Richard returns to his small English town after years in the army to find that his younger brother Anthony, who is intellectually disabled, has fallen under the influence of local drug dealers and been mistreated by them. Richard sets out to settle the score with those responsible, working through the men one by one as he confronts what happened to his brother in his absence.
The film is a crime drama directed by Shane Meadows, who wrote the screenplay with Paddy Considine, who also stars as Richard. Toby Kebbell plays Anthony, and Gary Stretch, Stuart Wolfenden, Neil Bell and Paul Sadot appear among the local figures. It was produced by Mark Herbert for Warp Films and Film4 Productions, runs 90 minutes, and was released in September 2004. It stands early in Meadows's filmography, preceding This Is England and Somers Town.
On IMDb the rating is 7.5/10 from around 63,000 votes, while on TMDB it is 7.1/10 from 638 votes. A critics' rating of 6.8/10 from 49 reviews places it close to the audience scores.
