Short description

A devastating hurricane hits a coastal town, causing sea levels to rise quickly. The trapped residents must find a way to survive the floodwaters, which have become infested with hungry sharks.

This horror thriller was written and directed by Tommy Wirkola, following his previous work on Violent Night 2. The film is a joint production between the United States and Australia, involving companies such as Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures. The cast features Phoebe Dynevor as Lisa Fields, Whitney Peak as Dakota, and Djimon Hounsou as Dr. Dale Edwards, supported by Alyla Browne, Stacy Clausen, and Dante Ubaldi.

The movie received a mixed response from viewers. On IMDb, it holds a rating of 5.2 based on 8,740 votes, while on TMDB it has a slightly higher score of 6.2 from 829 votes.

What's left behind the scenes

  • A specially constructed pool in the studio parking lot held approximately 2 million liters of water. This is where the scenes on the central city square were filmed.
  • Indoor scenes, such as those in the characters' bedrooms, were filmed inside an indoor pool where specially constructed sets were lowered. Instead of trying to flood the set, production designer David Ingram built the sets so that a crane could be used to "remove" the lower levels of the building and consequently lower the sets into the water. This made the events on screen look more realistic.
  • When Dakota, played by Whitney Peak, returns home after rescuing Lisa, played by Phoebe Dynevor, she takes off her coat. The yellow long-sleeved sweater underneath is completely dry. In theory, it should have been soaked, as the character had been caught in a downpour and had even fallen into the water.
  • During filming in Melbourne, the filmmakers used real sets in some scenes, while in others, they employed computer graphics.
