Behind the Lens

Behind the Lens is a British drama and documentary about a student film crew interviewing a mysterious young woman named Julia. As she opens up about her difficult history, the director employs unethical methods and relentless questioning. This intrusive approach creates an uncomfortable environment for Julia and eventually obscures the distinction between her actual life and a staged performance.

The film was written and directed by Louis Pierrel. The cast features Julia Barrell in the title role, alongside Tómas Howser Harðarson, John Barnes, Sienna Galea Tudor, and Bhasker Patel. With a runtime of 25 minutes, the project explores the tension between a subject and those documenting her story.
