Desiré

Desiré follows a sixteen-year-old girl of Senegalese descent living in Naples. Struggling with a lack of direction and a difficult relationship with her drug-addicted mother, she finds meaning only in her feelings for Emanuele, an older boy involved in local crime. Through her association with him, she is arrested and sent to a juvenile detention center. During her time in prison, she undergoes a gradual process of personal growth and develops a sense of identity she previously thought unattainable.

The drama was directed by Mario Vezza, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Fabrizio Nardi. The film was produced by TNM Produzioni and CinemaFiction, with Antonio Acampora, Giovanni De Micco, and Armando Ciotola serving as producers. Nassiratou Zanre stars in the title role. This Italian production has a runtime of 100 minutes and was released on October 4, 2023.
