The Gospel of Revolution

This documentary examines the role of liberation theology in Latin America during the latter half of the 20th century. It focuses on millions of Christians who integrated their faith into political activism to challenge oligarchies and military governments. These individuals sought to establish a divine kingdom on earth rather than in the afterlife, often facing severe personal risks and consequences for disrupting the established ties between the Church and political power.

The film was directed by François-Xavier Drouet and produced by Need Productions and l’atelier documentaire. A co-production between France and Belgium, the movie has a runtime of 115 minutes. It was released on September 3, 2025.
