Merrily We Roll Along

Merrily We Roll Along follows Franklin Shepard, a gifted Broadway composer who leaves the theatre world and his New York friends behind to build a career producing films in Los Angeles. Told largely in reverse, the story opens at the height of his Hollywood success and then moves backward through the years, tracing his friendships with writer Mary Flynn and dramatist and lyricist Charley Kringas as ambition, success and disappointment reshape their relationships and test their loyalty to one another and to the dreams they once shared. This release is a filmed record of the Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's musical, captured at the Hudson Theatre in New York.

The production is directed by Maria Friedman, who previously directed this revival, with a screenplay credited to George Furth and Stephen Sondheim. Jonathan Groff plays Franklin, Lindsay Mendez plays Mary and Daniel Radcliffe plays Charley, with Krystal Joy Brown, Reg Rogers and Katie Rose Clarke also in the cast, among 24 credited performers. Sonia Friedman, David Babani and Patrick Catullo serve as producers.
