Last Take: Rust and the Story of Halyna

This documentary examines the life and professional career of independent cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. It focuses on the 2021 tragedy on the set of the movie Rust, where a prop gun fired a live round that killed Hutchins. Through first-hand accounts from those present, the film explores the events of that day and the resulting aftermath.

Directed by Rachel Mason, this was her first feature film before she directed My Brother's Killer in 2026. The production was a collaborative effort between Anonymous Content, Concordia Studio, Story Syndicate, and FutureClown Productions. In addition to archive footage of Halyna Hutchins, the film features appearances by Joel Souza, Dave Halls, Frances Fisher, Josh Hopkins, and Devon Werkheiser, all appearing as themselves. The movie was released in the United States on March 11, 2025, with a total runtime of 90 minutes.
