Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island

The members of Mystery Inc. have gone their separate ways. Daphne and Fred now front a television programme about the paranormal, Velma runs a mystery bookshop, and Shaggy and Scooby work at an airport screening baggage for smuggled food. When Daphne announces a documentary series on haunted places in America, Fred brings the group back together to hunt for a genuine haunting. Their search leads them to a remote island in the Louisiana bayous, where a young woman named Lena invites them to investigate the ghost of the pirate Moonscar. The gang soon finds zombies and cat creatures alongside the pirate's spirit, and for once the monsters may not be people in costumes.

The film is an animated mystery directed by Jim Stenstrum from a screenplay by Glenn Leopold, produced by Cosmo Anzilotti for Hanna-Barbera and Warner Bros. Family Entertainment, and running 77 minutes. It was the first of several Scooby-Doo features Stenstrum directed in sequence, followed by Scooby-Doo! and the Witch's Ghost, Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders and Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase. The voice cast includes Scott Innes as Scooby-Doo, Billy West as Shaggy, Mary Kay Bergman as Daphne, Frank Welker as Fred, B.J. Ward as Velma and Adrienne Barbeau as Simone.

Audiences rate the film 7.7 out of 10 on IMDb from 21,000 votes and 7.7 out of 10 on TMDB from 886 votes, while critics give it 7.2 out of 10 from nine reviews, so critical and audience assessments are closely aligned.
