Tommy Santoro grew up in a Philadelphia crime family, but he chose the military over the family business. When a conflict with his commanding officers puts him at risk of a court-martial, federal agents offer him a way out: return to his old neighborhood as an informant. His brother Vincent and cousin Joey have taken over the area's rackets, and an FBI agent played by Brian Dennehy wants Tommy to help bring them down. Caught between the law and his own blood, Tommy has to decide where his loyalty lies.
The film is directed by Bobby Moresco, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Allan Steele. It was his first feature as director; he went on to make Bent, Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend and Maserati: The Brothers. James Marsden plays Tommy, with Giovanni Ribisi as Joey and Brad Renfro as Vincent. Piper Perabo and Dennis Hopper appear as Brandy and Matty Matello. Made for a modest budget of around 8 million dollars, the film received a critics' rating of 4.1 out of 10 from 26 reviews, while on TMDB it holds 5.9 out of 10 from 115 votes.
