This documentary explores the life and work of writer Edna O'Brien. It examines how she challenged societal norms through her provocative writing and personal experiences after leaving rural Ireland. O'Brien discusses her own history, while contributors such as Gabriel Byrne and Walter Mosley provide further insight into her legacy.
Directed and written by Sinéad O'Shea, this was the first of two films she directed by 2026, followed by All About the Money. The production was a collaboration between Ireland and the United Kingdom, produced by Tara Films and SOS Productions Ltd. The film features appearances by Edna O'Brien herself, alongside Jessie Buckley, Gabriel Byrne, Andrew O'Hagan, Anne Enright, and Walter Mosley. The final runtime of the film is 100 minutes.
